The hardest part about learning Aikido is showing up!
Once you create the habit of, or the commitment to, attending classes regularly, your time on the mat is all it takes to create a strong foundation in aikido.
Classes are every week:
Monday- 7-8:30
Wednesday- 7-8:30
Saturday- 11-12:30
Please arrive 15 minutes early to change and help set up.
Classes are traditionally broken up into three parts:
Warm-ups
Stretching exercises prepare the body for training
Aiki Taiso
Ki development exercises coordinate Mind and Body. We also practice falling and rolling to create a safe environment for training.
Waza
Self-defense techniques responding to an attacker. As we progress we'll train how to deal with multiple attackers. More advanced training includes training with tanto (a wooden knife), bokken (a wooden sword) and jo (a short, wooden staff).
Your first class is always free, and we only charge $10 a class, or $40 a month after that. We choose quality over commodity in our training.
We require no commitment from you, but coming to class regularly is the only way to grow in aikido.
The commitment you make has to be to yourself.
